Covid 19 in India News LIVE: Shanghai discharges thousands of patients, boosts supplies

Karnataka on Sunday recorded 56 fresh COVID-19 cases and zero fatality, taking the total infection to 39,46,002 till date, the State Health Department said. Until today, there were 40,057.

Gujarat reported 22 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, which raised its infection tally to 12,24,047, the state health department said. Nobody died due to the infection during the day, which kept the fatality count unchanged at 10,942.

The count of COVID-19 cases in Nashik district of Maharashtra rose to 4,76,023 on Sunday with the addition of three fresh cases, officials said.

Jammu and Kashmir recorded 30 fresh Covid cases on Sunday that took the infection tally to 4,53,889, officials said. No Covid-related fatality was reported in the past 24 hours, they said, adding that the death toll remains at 4,750.

Telangana on Sunday recorded 13 fresh coronavirus cases taking the total positives in the state to 7,91,498. No deaths due to the infection were reported in the last 24 hours and the toll remained 4,111, a health department bulletin said.

Tamil Nadu on Sunday registered 30 fresh COVID-19 cases and the active cases stood at 228 and there were no fatalities.

Mumbai on Sunday reported 35 fresh Covid-19 cases, taking the tally to 10,58,416, the city civic body said. The Covid-19 death toll in Mumbai remained unchanged at 19,560 as no fresh fatality was reported, the civic health department said in a statement.

Chhattisgarh had a ‘clean slate’ Sunday as no Covid-19 case was reported nor did anyone succumb to the infection, leaving the state’s tally and toll unchanged at 11,52,202 and 14,034 respectively, a health official said.

The Covid tally in Madhya Pradesh reached 10,41,205 on Sunday after the addition of eight cases. The COVID-19 death toll remained unchanged at 10,734 as no fresh fatality was reported in the last 24 hours in the sate, a health official said. The case positivity rate stood at 0.01 per cent in MP, he said.

Kerala on Sunday recorded 223 new Covid-19 infections which raised the total caseload to 65,35,971. The southern state also reported 5 deaths which raised the total fatalities to 68,365, according to a government release.

Shanghai on Sunday discharged over 11,000 recovered COVID-19 patients and health authorities emphasized that they must be allowed to return home despite the lockdown that has severely restricted movement in China’s largest city.

Delhi reports 141 new cases and one death in the last 24 hours. Active cases stand at 608. Positivity rate is 1.29%
