IPL 2022, CSK vs RCB: Shivam Dube and Robin Uthappa hit a record-equalling tally of 17 sixes between them as Chennai recovered from 60/2 at the end of the 10th over to post 216 in 20 overs against Bangalore on Tuesday in Mumbai.

It was six-hitting of the highest order as Chennai Super Kings’ senior batter Robin Uthappa and young all-rounder Shivam Dube put on a show of fireworks in Match 22 of IPL 2022 at the DY Patil Stadium against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Tuesday, April 12.

Robin Uthappa and Shivam Dube added 156 runs in just 73 balls as CSK posted a mammoth total of 216. CSK were struggling to get going after losing opener Ruturaj Gaikwad (17) and Moeen Ali (3) inside the 7tth over of the game. CSK huffed and puffed to 60/2 at the end of the 10th over before the carnage began.

Shivam Dube finished with 95 not out off just 46 balls while Robin Uthappa hit 88 from just 50 balls as Chennai Super Kings recovered wonderfully well from the early setbacks. CSK picked up 156 runs in the last 10 overs, the third-highest tally in the last 10 overs of an innings in the IPL.

Uthappa hit 9 sixes and 6 boundaries while Dube hit 8 sixes and 5 boundaries as the two batters put the RCB bowlers to the sword in a spectacular counter-attacking charge.

By hitting 17 sixes, Chennai Super Kings equaled their record of most sixes scored in a match against in the IPL.

Uthappa turned back the block as he went on a vintage six-hitting spree, falling 12 runs short of his maiden IPL hundred in his 15th season in the T20 tournament. The 36-year-old pummeled his former franchise to post his highest score in the IPL.

Meanwhile, Dube, who has been consistent for CSK since being bought at the IPL 2022 mega auction, went big, dominating some of the best bowlers, including Josh Hazlewood and Wanindu Hasararanga as Faf du Plessis was looking clueless in the middle.

Dube also equalled Murali Vijay record from the IPL 2010 final for the highest individual score in a match between CSK and RCB.
