Star Wars Celebration: A New Show Starring Jude Law, ‘The Mandalorian S3’ And More Announced

This year’s Star Wars Celebration week is in full swing, with a plethora of projects coming our way from a galaxy far far away. From the much-awaited The Madolorian Season 3 getting a release date to an all-new Star Wars live-action show headed for Disney Plus, there’s a lot for fans to look forward to. Here are some of the highlights from the event:

1) Andor

Star Wars: Rogue One will possibly go down as one of the best movies to come out of Disney’s takeover of Lucas Films. The movie which gave us some jaw-dropping action set-pieces and THAT Darth Vader scene also introduced us to everyone’s favourite rebel—Cassian Andor. Now, after it was first announced in 2018, the live-action spin-off starring Diego Luna is finally headed for our TV screens this August.

2) The Mandalorian Season 3

In case you were among the millions who can’t wait to “see the baby,” we have some good news. Lucas Films has finally given us a date for the third season of the Mandalorian. The Pedro Pascal-starrer show will return to the streaming platform in February 2023.

While details are scarce now, creators of the show mentioned that the new season will see Din Djarin continuing his journey with everyone’s favourite animatronic character, Grogu. Reports also suggest that Bo-Katan Kryze, played by Katee Sackhoff will serve as the primary antagonist of the season.

3) Ahsoka

Along with reintroducing us to Luke Skywalker, the last season of The Mandalorian also gave us our first live-action interpretation of Ahsoka Tano. The now exiled Jedi is set to get her series at Disney Plus, scheduled to premiere in 2023.

Again, while details are scarce right now, we think the series will primarily focus on the search for Ezra Bridger and introduce us to Grand Admiral Thrawn. Ahsoka is also rumoured to appear in the upcoming Obi-Wan series, which will see the return of Ewan McGregor. With creators Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau at the helm, we’re in safe hands.

4) Star Wars: Skeleton Crew

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, an Original series starring Jude Law, from executive producers Jon Watts, Christopher Ford, Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, is streaming in 2023 only on @DisneyPlus.

In a piece of news no one saw coming, there’s a brand new live-action Star Wars show. Jude Law who was last seen as Dumbledore in the recent Fantastic Beasts movie will be making his Star Wars debut as a yet-to-be-revealed character.

What’s more exciting here though is it’s handled by the folks behind the new Spider-Man franchise, Jon Watts and Chris Ford. During the panel, Filoni did give us a brief idea of what the show might be about, saying the series will be “as much for kids as The Clone Wars.”
