With No More Simon On ‘Bridgerton’, Here’s Where You Can Catch Regé-Jean Page Stealing Hearts

Regé-Jean Page became a star overnight after his stint as Simon Basset on Bridgerton Season 1. While fans hoped to see him return to the titular role for the upcoming seasons, the actor said goodbye to the character. With still a little hope in their hearts, fans kept waiting for the star to return, only to get disappointed every time. Sadly, we bring some more heart-breaking news for you.

Page has now expressed that he has no qualms about being recast for his role, clearly establishing that he has moved on from this role. He told Variety, “They’re free to do as they like. Shonda (Rhimes, executive producer on Bridgerton) and I had a wonderful conversation at the end of Season 1. We were quite happy with how we stuck the landing on that one.”

“We did so well on that redemptive arc that people forget that Simon was kind of horrific. He was the best example of a Regency fuckboy that any of us had come across,” the actor continued. “And so, because we came around full circle so well, because we stuck that landing, you’re left with this great feeling. You really do have to be brave about ending stories like that.”

However, while you may not get to see him sweep you off your feet as Simon, Page has a busy lineup ahead. He will be seen in some very intriguing projects that you must keep an eye out for.

The Gray Man

With just a few days left for its release, Page will next be seen in Netflix’s The Gray Man. Helmed by Anthony and Joe Russo, the action thriller is based on Mark Greaney’s 2009 novel of the same name. Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans play the lead roles with Ana de Armas, Jessica Henwick, Billy Bob Thornton, Alfre Woodard and Dhanush as supporting cast. Page plays the head of the CIA clandestine services.

The Saint

The Bridgerton star is also going to be seen in Paramount Pictures’ upcoming reboot of 1997’s The Saint. The film, which is based on a 1920 book series by Leslie Charteris, will have him star in the role of Simon Templar. He will be seen as a proficient thief who goes on different undercover missions. Details about the film’s production and release are still under wraps.

Dungeons and Dragons

Another major project that Regé-Jean Page has bagged is the Dungeons & Dragons film. Directed by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, the film is scheduled for release in 2023. Reportedly titled Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, the project is a reboot of the movies based on the popular game. Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Justice Smith, Hugh Grant, and Sophia Lillis are also a part of the film.
