The Delhi Police on Monday arrested a 25-year-old model and his girlfriend for peddling drugs around the Delhi University area. The police seized 1.010 kg of drugs worth more than Rs 1 crore from them.

The Delhi Police Crime branch on Monday seized 1.010 kg of drugs worth more than Rs one crore from a 25-year-old model and his girlfriend in North Delhi.
The accused have been identified as Shubham Malhotra alias Sunny and Kirti (27). Both used to supply drugs around the Delhi University campus.
According to the inputs received by the police, some people were supplying drugs around the Delhi University area. After further investigation, it was revealed that Sunny was the key link to this racket.
Sunny used to procure drugs from Malana in Himachal Pradesh and supply them in the Delhi University areas, Assistant sub-inspector Sachin Singh said.
On July 12, the police received an input that, Sunny has been in Himachal Pradesh for the past two-three days and would return to Delhi via Singhu border in his car between 6-7 am.
A trap was laid by the police at the Singhu border but the car could not be stopped due to heavy rain and the dangerous speed of the car. The police team then rushed towards the Old Gupta Colony, where Sunny lived and another team was chasing behind Sunny’s car.
Finally, the accused was intercepted at Old Gupta Colony Chowk, after a chase of 45 minutes.
Subsequently, a case under the The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (NDPS) Act was registered, and the accused were arrested in the case.
Upon interrogation by the police, accused Sunny revealed that he started smoking and consuming drugs in 2016 and to cover his expenses, he started selling drugs to his friends as well.
