Akshay Kumar And Union Minister Nitin Gadkari Brutally Trolled For ‘Problematic’ New Ad

It looks like advertisements featuring Akshay Kumar are jinxed. Not too long ago, the actor was called out for featuring in a commercial that promoted the use of tobacco products. Months later, he is yet again under the scanner for a new road safety ad. Kumar joined hands with Union Minister, Nitin Gadkari to educate people about airbags and road safety. While the idea behind the commercial was impressive, the execution did not sit well with the audience.

The ad is set against a wedding backdrop. A father is seen crying while sending off his daughter after marriage. Kumar arrives on the scene as a policeman. He calls out the father, taunting him for sending the couple in a car with only two airbags instead of six. “Make life safer by traveling in a vehicle with 6 airbags (roughly translated),” Gadkari wrote in the tweet while sharing the ad on social media.

The first person to call out the problematic ad was Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi. “This is such a problematic advertisement. Who passes such creatives? Is the government spending money to promote the safety aspect of a car or promoting the evil& criminal act of dowry through this ad?” her tweet read. This brought more attention to the advertisement, with people calling out Kumar and the Union Minister for their insensitivity.

I have seen this logical tweet from your side at the very first time. I would like to appreciate if in future too you tweet for a public good and not for criticism for the sake of it.
