French foreign minister to visit India this week

NEW DELHI: French foreign minister

will visit India this week to strengthen bilateral cooperation in a range of areas, including defence and counter-terrorism, while reaffirming France’s “unwavering” commitment to the Indo-Pacific and determination to work with India to find common solutions to global disorders. This will also be her first bilateral visit to any country in Asia since she assumed office.

“The aim of her visit is to move forward with an ambitious agenda to deepen and expand the Indo-French strategic partnership ahead of its 25th anniversary next year,” said the French embassy in a statement.

India and France are also looking at strengthening cooperation on counter-terrorism, including on designation of terrorists in the UNSC. Colonna will also call on

“Their talks will cover the gamut of our bilateral strategic partnership, regional and global subjects of common interest, and coordination on issues under consideration at the United Nations Security Council, which France is currently chairing,” said France, adding she will also meet NSA Ajit Doval.
