Acer has recently taken the wraps off its premium smart TV S and TV H series that not only excel in the looks department but also bring features, such as 4K UHD display and Dolby Atmos to the table. During the event, Gizbot had the opportunity to interact with Mr. Anand Dubey, CEO of Indkal Technologies, Acer Home Entertainment licensee, where he spilled the beans about Acer’s plan to launch a 70-inch premium smart TV and audio peripherals in India.

During the interview, Anand confirmed that Acer will be unveiling a new 70-inch smart TV that will run Android 11 TV OS, feature a bezel-less design, and dual-band Wi-Fi support. He also confirmed the company will be foraying into the sound bars and home theater categories in India soon.

We will complement the current line of televisions with home audio products very soon under a sub-brand,” Anand said.

We also touched upon topics regarding Acer’s plans for the Indian market, where he shared his thoughts on the company’s existing lineup and the products hitting the market in the coming days.

On being asked what sets the TV I-series apart from the latest S and H series, Anand explained that the company’s philosophy is to ensure it caters to consumers in all segments. To do so, Acer wants to stretch its arms to scoop in a wider target demographic with an extensive range of products under its belt.

Philosophically, what we want to do is make sure that we present a buying option to each type of customer. What that means is, playing across a wider segment with a wider spectrum of products,” Anand Dubey told Gizbot.

The advent of the TV I-series was Acer’s attempt to offer good value for money for budget-conscious buyers. These products qualified as affordable products that did not compromise much on features.

When we launched the I-series in July, it was an effort to bring more value segment products that appeal to a set of customers who look for a value product in terms of specifications. These products meet the basic standards of the product being spec-heavy, having a great picture quality, and audio, but being affordable at the same time,” he added.

To bridge the gap between its affordable and premium offerings, Acer launched the S and H series which are more spec-loaded and throw sophisticated features such as Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos in the mix.

Dubey further divulged that the entire lineup has been overhauled with features, such as the 60-Watt front-firing speakers on the H series. The S series, on the other hand, offers 32-inch (HD) and 65-inch (UHD) variants with a 40 watt and 50 watt speaker setup.

On being asked about the naming of these TV series, Anand said, “The S series of Acer TVs have a front-firing speaker setup that looks like a sound bar hence the name “S”. While the H series has a regular bottom-firing speaker setup with a much higher audio output.

Anand believes the I series was an evolution of the products that were available earlier. It ran the slightly dated Android 9 OS and lacked several important value additions. That’s the main reason the S and H series ship with the Android 11 TV OS while incorporating features such as MEMC.
