A stuntman died when he fell down after a rope snapped while he was performing a sequence for Vetrimaaran’s Viduthalai on a set near Vandalur on Saturday.

By Pramod Madhav: A 54-year old stuntman died on the sets of national award winning director Vetrimaaran’s upcoming movie ‘Viduthalai’. Suresh, who has been a stunt coordinator for several years, was helping another stunt coordinator on the movie set created near Vandalur in Chennai.
A grand set of a train wreck was being filmed when Suresh and a few others were tied to a rope harness for the stunt sequence on Saturday. Suresh was secured to a rope held by a crane and as the scene began, the rope snapped. Suresh fell from nearly 20ft high and was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead.
Police have initiated an investigation into the matter. Director Vetrimaaran, known for films like Vada Chennai and Asuran, is yet to make a formal statement on Suresh’s death.
