The second semi-final of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup between France and Morocco will be officiated by Mexican César Ramos on Wednesday at Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor.

Ramos officiated three other games at the last World Cup in Russia, including Brazil-Switzerland, Poland-Colombia, and Uruguay-Portugal.

The pressure on Ramos leading up to one of the most important games of his career will only grow in light of the harsh criticism other referees at the Qatar World Cup have received.

During the quarterfinals, Spanish referee Antonio Mateu Lahoz was among those who received criticism. After receiving a complaint from Lionel Messi and Frenkie de Jong, Argentina defeated the Netherlands on penalties to go to the semi-finals, Mateu Lahoz is now prepared to depart Qatar.

According to Messi, Mateu Lahoz shouldn’t be permitted to oversee a game as significant as the one in which Messi participated.
