The first episode is to be released on January 13, 2023

The trailer for the latest documentary series on Tennis, titled ‘Break Point’, has been released by Netflix. The trailer features a host of NextGen superstars like Nick Kyrgios, Matteo Berrettini, and also the world’s No. 1 Iga Swiatek.

“Break Point gets up close and personal with these players over a year competing across the globe in the ATP and WTA tours,” stated a press release for the series, further detailing, “From career-threatening injuries and emotional heartbreak to triumphant victories and personal moments off the court, viewers will get a behind-the-scenes look at the pressure-tested lives of some of the best tennis players in the world.”

Following a golden age of greatness, tennis’ next generation are ready to take over.

The first five episodes will be released next year in January, around the same time as the year’s first grand slam Australian Open. The first episode will feature two Australians, Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakkis, so we can expect some spicy stuff. The second half of the series will coincide with the beginning of the grass season, and it will cover Wimbledon, US Open, and some major ATP events.

First trailer for the new tennis Netflix show – Break Point – has just dropped, as well as details of the first episodes.

Five episodes will be available from 13 January 2023, covering up to the French Open 2022.

Since the series is produced by the makers of the highly acclaimed F1: Drive To Survive, expectations are naturally high. The team has spent the whole of the 2022 tennis season tracking the players on the tour.

“I think it’s going to make a great show, and I think we gave them some good content,” said Felix Auger-Aliassime, who is also featured in the documentary. “For me, the main goal is that it can help tennis. It can help tennis overall. That would be amazing if we could see a rise in the number of fans and attention for our sport by airing this series.”

Tennis has been grappling with declining interest as most of its fanbase revolves around Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, and Novak Djokovic. With Federer already bidding adieu to the game, and the likes of Nadal and Djokovic in the last wind, tennis is feeling the heat of dwindling interest.

This documentary, thus, is coming out at a perfect time, and the tennis world would hope that it emulates the success of F1: Drive to Survive, which helped formula racing gain new fans.
